Move to your own server

You can move your library to your own server at any time. You'll then look after its updates, backups, and uptime. The Savorum apps work with both.

  1. Prepare your server

Install a current Savorum release with private storage, secure access, and its own backups. Keep using Cloud until the move is done.

  2. Download a full copy

The household owner opens Backups on the account page, chooses a password, and downloads a full copy.

Only need your recipes? Export them from Savorum and import them into the new server. That export doesn't include members or history.

  3. Restore and reconnect

Restore the copy on your server and set up sign-in there. Check your recipes and photos, then help each member connect to the new address.

  4. Cancel your subscription

Moving doesn't cancel your subscription. Once the new server works, cancel it where you subscribed.

Technical steps

Check the copy with savorum verify --input and the downloaded file, then restore it with savorum restore. Both ask for the copy's password. Restore also installs the webhook signing keys beside the database.

Set a local password for the existing administrator with savorum user reset-password, then run savorum hosting release.

Remove the managed sign-in provider and its trust settings, set the new public address, and start with authentication enabled. Set up local sign-in for the other members. Passkeys stay tied to the old address, so each member creates a new one.

Keep the downloaded copy until your own backups are working.
